South Africa’s Anti-apartheid icon Nelson Mandela Dies at The Age of 95
South Africa’s first black president and anti-apartheid icon Nelson Mandela has died at the age of 95 in Johannesburg on December 5, 2013.
He had been receiving intensive medical care at home for a lunch infection after spending three months in hospital.
In addition to his political activities, Mr. Mandela was a strong supporter of road safety, after having lost his son Thembekile Mandela (1969, 24 years) and great granddaughter Zenani Mandela (2010, 13 years) in traffic crashes.
