Kunhadi's 11th Anniversary Celebration

Eleven years have passed since Kunhadi was founded in 2006. On this occasion, Kunhadi celebrated its 11th anniversary on November 24th in a press conference under the patronage of the Minister of Tourism, His Excellency Avedis Guidanian, at Movenpick Hotel – Beirut, at 9.30 a.m.

The event presenter, economic media expert Mr. Maurice Matta, opened the ceremony by welcoming guests, including the political and public figures, road safety experts and professionals from the private sector, for their commitment to improving road safety in Lebanon.

Beirut Legal Firm Managing Partner took the stage to recount the organization’s journey to road safety throughout the past eleven years, and stressed on the importance of the strict implementation of the traffic law.

“As is our tradition, every anniversary holds with it a surprise” stated Kunhadi President, Mr. Fady Gebrane. “This year, we are launching the first pillar of Save The Night: The Nightclubs and Pubs Pillar in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism and the Syndicate of Owners of Restaurants, Cafes, Nigh-Clubs & Pastries in Lebanon, and in partnership with Diageo, Uber, and Zomato.”

Save The Night works on raising awareness on the risks of drunk and fatigue driving, discouraging underage and harmful consumption of alcohol. It engages nightlife stakeholders in youth safety by providing their staff members with specialized trainings enabling them to create a safer environment for young partygoers.

Kunhadi will be awarding “Save The Night” label for nightclubs and valet parking companies whose staff complete Kunhadi trainings and meet the safety requirements stated in the Nightclub Code. This code is created in collaboration with the Ministry of tourism and the partnership of the Syndicate of Night Clubs. Labeled nightclubs and pubs will be featured on Zomato App, in addition to social media networks and websites of Kunhadi, Zomato, and the Syndicate. Mr. Gebrane encourages all nightclub owners in Lebanon to participate in this project and get engaged in saving lives.

 

Zomato’s City Head of Online Ordering, Mr. Ayman Nasser

Mr. Nasser from Zomato announced that the restaurant finder app will launch a new filter powered by Kunhadi to display all Save The Night labeled venues. Zomato will also be launching a “Kunhadi Collection” to attract users to the labeled venues.

 

Senior Manager of Uber, Mr. Marc Farhat

The Senior Manager of Uber, Mr. Marc Farhat, hopes that this partnership will contribute to improving road safety and ultimately saving lives, as drunk driving is one of the leading causes for fatal crashes worldwide.

 

Diageo’s Financial Analyst & Drink Positive Champion, Ms. Tracey Massoud

Ms. Tracey Massoud commended Kunhadi for its efforts to reduce road traffic crashes related to alcohol consumption. She highlighted Diageo’s vigorous support of drink-drive programs such as random breath tests and funding safe rides around the world.

She emphasized their full commitment to the Save The Night program and believes in its great potential to address drunk driving.

 

The president of The Syndicate of Owners of Restaurants, Cafés, Night-Clubs and Pastries in Lebanon, Mr. Tony Ramy

Mr. Ramy stated that the Syndicate is keen on contributing to all activities related to the safety of restaurant, nightclub and pub clients, and Save The Night Program serves this purpose.  The syndicate supports the continuous collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism and Kunhadi as well as the Internal Security Forces confirming that it will enhance nightlife safety.

His Excellency concluded the conference by emphasizing the Ministry’s dedication to all initiatives intended to protect partygoers in terms of consumption and safety.
