#SaveKidsLives week with Kunhadi
On the occasion of #SaveKidsLives week from May 4, to May 10, Kunhadi organized a series of activities in different areas in Lebanon.
Kunhadi gave Road Safety conferences in fourteen different schools and universities:
- Beirut: College Notre Dame and Middle East University
- Mount Lebanon: Jesus & Mary School
- North Lebanon: Sebhil Secondary School, Zgharta Official School and, in collaboration with Holcim, Heri School, Kefraya School, Kfarhazir School and Checca School
- South Lebanon: St Coeur Ain Abel School, Mouassaset Iman Sader Sour, Moutawassetet Tayer Harfa Public School and Sour Secondary school for boys in which the activities were organized in collaboration with the UNIFIL.
Since the launching of the campaign, over 500 children wrote their road safety's demands and wishes on the #SaveKidsLives signboards.
In collaboration with Holcim Lebanon, Kunhadi organized three "Road Safety Day" on May 5, 6 & 7, in the north of Lebanon. These three days included conferences for children aged 6 to 10 and 11 to 13.
Sponsored by Rotaract Club of Beirut Cosmopolitan, District 2452, Kunhadi installed a safe crossing in front of two schools in Badaro - Ecole Fransiscaine and Lycee du Musee - to protect the safety of students while crossing the road, on May 7, 2015.
In collaboration with the UNIFIL in Shamaa (South Lebanon), Kunhadi organized a "Road Safety Day". Along with the Italian troops, Kunhadi gave four conferences for children aged 11 to 13. Using simulators, they taught children how to cross the road safely and helped them learn road signs.
Kunhadi's President, Mr. Fady Gebrane, and Kunhadi's Ambassador, Mrs. Inas Abou Ayyash, met government officials to explain about the international campaign launched by the UN to #SaveKidsLives and urged them to sign the declaration to make road safety for children a priority.
They also delivered to the political leaders the signboards signed by children from all over Lebanon to highlight their demands.
Kunhadi's representatives obtained the signatures from: the Parliament member General Aoun, the Minister of Social Affairs Rachid Derbas, the Minister of Justice Achraf Rifi and the Minister of Public Works and Transport Ghazi Zeaiter.
So far, Kunhadi received around 500 offline signatures and is still expecting more.
