Traffic Management Center implements Kunhadi initiative on wider scale
On New Year’s Eve (NYE) 2012, Kunhadi launched a new initiative in Lebanon to encourage the use of Taxi on this night congested with alcohol-related road crashes.
In addition to its yearly nation-wide awareness campaigns encouraging the use of Taxi, the road safety organization collaborated with a number of renowned nightclubs and designated representatives in each nightclub whose role was to identify drivers unfit to operate vehicles due to alcohol consumption and offer them a free Taxi ride back home by Kunhadi.
This initiative garnered such success that not only the organization repeated it in the succeeding two years, but the Ministry of Interior and Municipalities also adopted Kunhadi’s NYE activity and applied it on a larger scale in 2013, offering free taxi rides to any citizen unfit to drive due to alcohol consumption.
On NYE 2014 the Traffic Management Center will also launch a drunk driving campaign and, in collaboration with the general syndicate of Lebanon’s Taxi drivers, will again offer 100 free taxi cars to citizens unable to drive as to protect them against the perils of drunk driving, simply by calling 1720.
Kunhadi supports the Traffic Management Center in its effort to protect the safety of road users and we promise to always find new initiatives to deliver road safety messages and encourage both authorities and citizens to become safer.
