Kunhadi joins the #SaveKidsLives global road safety campaign
UN general assembly 68/269 resolution dated 29/4/2014 requested the WHO and United Nations regional commissions to facilitate organization of activities during 2015 for the third UN Global Road Safety Week, with a focus on safety of children in traffic.
Based on the principles of the Decade of Action of Road Safety 2011-2020, #SaveKidsLives official global campaign was launched in November 2014. The campaign reflects the voices of children around the world, their demands for road safety and concerns when traveling on the roads.
#SaveKidsLives requires supporters to read the Declaration, sign it, take a “safie” photo holding the campaign signboard with their message/request and show it on social media, then in May 2015, to deliver the Declaration to decision makers.
Kunhadi has signed the declaration on 24/11/2014 and pledged to:
• Call for action to stop the growing number of roads deaths worldwide
• Ask decision makers to save kids’ lives putting road safety in place
• Support the movement for road safety led by children around the world

Action needs to be taken as soon as possible or many children won’t have the chance to grow old enough to have their voices heard.
Kunhadi action plan for the #SaveKidsLives 2015 campaign:
- Free road safety conferences to children all over Lebanon
In addition to Kunhadi’s usual road safety conferences around Lebanese schools, this year, Kunhadi will inform the young students about Save Kids Lives campaign. The students will write their road safety messages and requests on signboards and take “safies” pictures and send them to Kunhadi, who in turn, will spread them on its social media platforms. ?Kunhadi will also go green with this road safety initiative by substituting paper signboards with real boards to save on consumption of paper - Free conferences for adults (schools or universities):?
During adults’ road safety conferences, Kunhadi will make use of two simulators - Seat Belt Convincer and the Vision Impairment Goggles – to raise awareness about the use of seat belt and the effect of alcohol on driver’s perception - Collecting 10452 declaration signatures from students, parents, school administrators and decision makers to support the campaign
- Lobbying ministers and decision makers ?
During the UN Global Road Safety Week (May 4 – May 10), students representing different schools will accompany Kunhadi to visit the Minster of Education, Minister of Interior and Municipalities, and a number of decision makers to present signatures collected throughout the year to support Save Kids Lives campaign and urge them to improve road infrastructure, road user behavior and strictly implement laws to regulate road safety - Installing 10 safe crossings in front of 10 schools?. Kunhadi will continue its campaign to install safe crossings in front of Lebanese schools to protect the lives of students crossing the road
- Launching of a Speeding campaign in January
- Organizing two taxi nights in the objective of spreading drunk driving awareness and encourage the youth to use taxi cars when they go partying
- Lobby municipalities to place bumps on the roads and/or ask them to maintain safe crossings that Kunhadi installs
