S-Drive App launched in New Castle promotes safe driving using incentives
In Australia, where 1 in 3 drivers will be involved in a car crash during their first year of driving and where 2 are killed on the road every 7 days, Samsung sought a new way to make a difference using Smart Phones:
Samsung introduced S-Drive Program
promotes safe driving by using incentives instead of penalties. Drivers just lock their mobile in the mobile cradle, which automatically launches the app and puts the mobile on Safe driving mode and starts monitoring their driving. The app also alerts the driver if he exceeds the speed limit, notifies him of oncoming traffic, informs him of accidents black spots and even reminds the driver of not touching the phone.
To keep drivers motivated, points are rewarded for every safe kilometer traveled that can then be redeemed for rewards. The longer the distance traveled safely, the bigger the prize. The prizes range from free movie and music subscription, to winning free petrol gas even Samsung tablets.
