Decade of Action for Road Safety, 2014
For the fourth year in a row, Kunhadi launched the Decade of Action for Road Safety 2011-2020 in Lebanon on May 16, 2014 in collaboration with AXA Medical Insurance, Lebanese franchise restaurant Zaatar w Zeit and Jammal Trust Bank.
Lebanese-Spanish F3 Champion Noel Jammal will once again be Kunhadi’s ambassador for this campaign with the message “Race on the track. Drive on the road”
Kunhadi took also part of a multi-sectoral and multi-disciplinary pilot project initiated by the Global Road Safety Partnership (GRSP) MENA. The first project of its kind in Lebanon as it unites stakeholders from all fields of society (private sector, public sector, civil society) and addresses many areas (Enforcement, Engineering, Emergency and Education).
The project covers Antelias –Byblos highway with speeding and drunk driving as the leading risk factors.
The Pilot Project was launched on May 16, 2014 at the Internal Security Forces headquarters in Achrafieh. The campaign was entitled “We got together so that no road can separate you”.
Since data provided by the Red Cross have shown that the majority of traffic crashes occur on Antelias – Byblos highway with speeding and drunk driving as the leading risk factors, this highway and risk factors will serve as the focus point of all road safety projects taking place under the Pilot Project.
Kunhadi’s main responsibilities will be education through conferences, stands
and media coverage.
In addition, Kunhadi will continue its Safe Crossing installation campaign, still in effect since 2012, and will aim for the installation of 20 safe crossings in front of schools located on Antelias – Byblos highway.
